Havana Hand-Poured Soy Candle
Imagine an evening on a balcony in old Havana. The light is gold and the air is thick. Somewhere down the street, a band is playing. There is a glass of dark rum on the table and the smell of tobacco leaves curing somewhere nearby, mingled with leather, spice and the sweet warmth of sugarcane. Havana is that evening, that street, that grown-up sensual heat. The candle to light when you want a room to feel like somewhere properly elsewhere.
A smoky, spiced fragrance with rum and leather depth
This is a luxury Havana candle for people who want their candles with proper character. The opening is unmistakably tobacco leaf, dry, warm, slightly sweet, with a thread of dark rum and a lift of cinnamon. The heart deepens into leather, sweet pipe tobacco and a touch of cocoa, the kind of fragrance that fills a room without ever feeling heavy.
Underneath, the base does the long, sensual work, vetiver, soft amber, smoked sandalwood and a hint of vanilla bourbon. Hand-poured in small batches in our Portsmouth studio using natural soy wax, finished with a premium unbleached cotton wick, intricately interwoven with a delicate paper thread and encased in a protective outer jacket, for a steadier flame and a cleaner, longer burn.
Fragrance notes
Top: Tobacco leaf, dark rum, cinnamon
Heart: Leather, sweet pipe tobacco, cocoa
Base: Vetiver, amber, smoked sandalwood, vanilla bourbon
Why you'll love it
For evenings with proper atmosphere. Late dinner parties, second glasses of wine, conversations that go past midnight. Light Havana and the room becomes the kind of room where these things happen.
For a study, snug, or whisky corner. Particularly good with leather, dark wood, and a glass of something brown in hand. Properly grown up.
As a sophisticated Christmas gift. A long way from the typical festive candle. For the friend or family member who appreciates fragrance with weight to it. Hand-wrap option at checkout.
As a candle for someone hard to buy for. Men in particular, and anyone who finds most candles too sweet or too floral. Havana is unmistakably masculine in feel and properly atmospheric.
The details
• 200g hand-poured soy wax candle
• Approximately 35 hours of clean, even burn
• Premium unbleached cotton wick, paper-threaded and jacketed for a steadier flame
• White glass vessel, fully reusable
• Phthalate-free, vegan, cruelty-free
• Hand-poured in small batches in Portsmouth, UK
The ritual
For the best burn, light it for two to three hours the first time you use it, allowing the wax to melt fully to the edges of the glass. This sets what's called a memory pool and means your candle will burn evenly every time after. Trim the wick to 5mm before each lighting. Keep the candle away from draughts, and never leave it burning unattended.
Pairs beautifully with
Havana Wax Melts — the same atmospheric fragrance in a flame-free format. Brilliant for the study or reading room throughout the day.
Irish Turf Fire Candle— push the smoke deeper with peat, leather and a thread of Irish whiskey. Properly atmospheric layered together.
Myrrh & Tonka Candle — sweeter and more resinous, the festive counterpart to Havana's grown-up cocktail-hour glamour.
